Formed in 2017, The First Tee of Indiana-Greater Lafayette is one of the newest Indiana program locations. Classes are lead by PGA Professionals Dan Ross at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, Joel Baumgardner at West Lafayette Golf & Country Club, Jim Ousley at Battleground Golf Course. Also in 2017, First Tee National School Program was introduced to the Lafayette School Corporation elementaries. There, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade learned First Tee’s Nine Core Values and beginning golf skills in the physical education classes. The success of these class led to donations from the Lafayette Community Foundation as well as private donations for curriculum and equipment for Tippecanoe School Corporation as well as West Lafayette Elementary School. Find out more information about what we are doing in your community on our Facebook Page .
The First Tee of Indiana-Franklin offers scholarships to kids on a need basis. Our goal, as a community, is to ensure every kid has a place to learn, have fun, and cultivate friendships. The First Tee relies heavily on the help of volunteers to run our programs. While many opportunities relate to golf, most locations have the need for support off the course as well. Some of the volunteer opportunities at locations include event planning, mentoring, coaching, and in-school programming. We are always in need of trustworthy, caring adults to help us model the First Tee’s Nine Core Values: Honesty, Integrity, Perseverance, Judgment, Responsibility, Respect, Courtesy, Confidence, and Sportsmanship.
